Hope, Uncertainty, and a Healthy Baby Boy: Mosaic Embryo Journey

After learning that one of their embryos was a low-level mosaic—specifically with a +14 chromosome abnormality—this couple faced an incredibly tough decision. The embryo was a fully hatched Day 6 blastocyst (graded 6BB), and opinions from their doctors were split: one advised against transferring it, while the other encouraged them to try.

They ultimately chose hope.

At 21 days post-transfer, their beta was 23,671, and the first ultrasound revealed one strong heartbeat—measuring perfectly at 6 weeks and 6 days with a rate of 133 bpm. Weeks later, the baby’s heart rate had risen to 170, and he was even measuring two days ahead.

The couple pursued comprehensive testing, including a MartniTGenome screen and an amniocentesis. Despite the initial concerns surrounding the mosaicism (+14), all tests came back clear. No abnormalities were found.

Their healthy baby boy was born on April 14.

It was a long and emotional road, filled with difficult choices and medical unknowns—but for them, trusting the journey led to a beautiful outcome.
